Natural stone supply, when viewed from the outside, appears to be a single-line operation carried out by a single firm. In fact, real supply is the bringing together of independent areas of expertise with a common quality language. As Alpay Doğaltaş, we do not have our own quarry or factory, we have turned our three generations of family accumulation into a supply orchestration with the multiple solution partner model. In this model, from quarry to workshop, from quality control unit to logistics partner, each link works in its own area of expertise, and we stand as the coordinator assuming single-point responsibility to the customer. In this article, we share how our supplier network has been shaped, our common quality standards, our inspection processes and the single-counterpart experience we offer to our B2B customers.
The basic logic of the multiple solution partner model is to have each job done by its own expert. A quarry partner's job is to produce blocks, a cutting workshop's job is to produce slabs, a polishing unit's job is to give surface finish, a packaging team's job is to prepare for international shipment. This specialization achieves a much higher quality threshold than a single firm trying to keep all these processes in-house. While the single-line integrated producer model has to settle for average quality at every stage, the multiple solution partner model carries the signature of the best in that work at every stage. The job of Alpay Doğaltaş is to establish a single flow that protects the customer's spec among these expert links.
Quarry partnership is the first link in network management. We have long-standing relationships with quarry operators in the Marmara Island basin, especially Saraylar. These relationships are fed not from a single quarry but from multiple deposits. Certain quarries are preferred for Classic Marmara, different deposits for Pure White, a separate vein group for Panda. Knowing which quarry has given which quality block in which season is the silent advantage of the multiple partner model. A supplier tied to a single quarry is directly affected by the seasonal fluctuations of that quarry. Our model gives the flexibility to choose the block most suitable for the customer's spec according to the current quarry performance.
Cutting and processing workshops form the second layer of the network. In the multiple solution partner model, we do not work with a single workshop, we run parallel work with workshops with different areas of expertise. Certain workshops are preferred for standard slab cutting, special lines for bookmatch parallel cutting, calibrated benches for monumental large format cutting. One workshop for polished finish, another artisan team for antique patina, a separate line for brushed surface come into play. This specialization ensures that the most suitable team performs the work according to the technical needs of the project. The choice of workshop is decided from the outset according to the type of project, slab size and finish preference.
